British Parts Northwest came into being as a result of the owner, Greg Sherick; interest in racing a Triumph Spitfire in SCCA sponsored races in Portland, Oregon in the late 1970's. In order to keep the expenses down, Greg found it more economical to purchase a whole car that would have parts to match the needed ones of his "F" Production 1970 Spitfire. The backyard of his family's home in Lake Oswego, Oregon became littered with several cars in various stages of disarray and Cherry, his wife, suggested strongly that he get rid of what he didn't need and the rest of the cars. Greg placed an ad in the Portland paper for "Parting out Triumph Spitfire" and was amazed at the immediate response. Thus was born British Parts which also fit nicely with Greg's service station business at the time.
Having run out of free time Greg left the racing scene in 1983 to devote more to the Triumph parts business. By 1985 with the Triumph business booming, he decided to dedicate all of his time to British Parts, in turn the service stations where sold. He began importing new parts from the U.K. as well as continuing in used parts and expanding his ads to all of the U.S., thus becoming British Parts Northwest. Remembering what is was like when he was looking for parts, he continually tried to keep low prices and maintain prompt, fast and courteous service to his customers.
By 1986 it became apparent he needed more room to expand the business that was located in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The room was found in a 40 acre farm in Rural Dayton, Oregon. Here British Parts Northwest was able to continue to grow in size and take in both his son and daughter into the business. Thus becoming the family operated corporation it is today. The goal of our business has never changed from the onset; we strive to provide new parts for British cars, Triumph, MG, Jaguar and Austin Healey, at reasonable prices with fast, courteous, prompt service to the customer.
