Description
This is an O.E.M. Lucas "Quikfit" Points (DCB101)and Condenser (DSB101) set to fit 22D to 25D Lucas distributors. It is very important to change both the points and the condenser at the same time since they are a integral part of your ignition system. As the engine rotates, the distributor shaft cam turns until the high point on the cam causes the breaker points to separate suddenly. Instantaneously, when the points open current flow stops through the primary windings of the ignition coil. This causes the magnetic field to collapse around the coil. The condenser absorbs the energy and prevents arcing between the points each time they open. If you condenser is not up to snuff there will be energy loss in the condenser and you will loose spark. Or if the points are pitted and burned they will not make a clean break and this also will cause a loss of spark. Always replace in sets to keep you car running in tip top shape.
