There are several advantages to using a drilled and slotted brake rotor on your Triumph Spitfire. Slots in the rotor accomplish a couple of tasks. The first is the slots cause air turbulence which keep the rotor clean of debris and dust and will keep the rotor cooler. Second the slots and the holes provide a place for the gases of the brake pads to escape during heavy breaking. When a brake pad becomes very hot it out gases which can cause a barrier between the brake pad and the rotor.
