This is a fuel tank for Austin Healey Sprite MK II and MG Midget MK I up to Aug 1970 (NOTE: cars originally shipped to California may have only used this tank until Oct of 1969 starting at engine number 12CJ-DA-H-21201 when the evaporative loss system was introduced). Fuel tank has a capacity of 7 gallons (the factory tank was 6 gallons). The annealed cold-rolled steel sheet is first processed to apply a thin flash coating of electrode-posited nickel, and then it's given a hot-dip lead-tin alloy coating. The nickel base coat gives Ni-Terne steel an extra measure of corrosion resistance compared to traditional galvanizing. It should also be pointed out that the Ni-Terne coating protects both interior and exterior surfaces of the fuel tank from surface corrosion so your tank will be protected from all sides.
