Finally a quality built Aluminum flywheel with ring gear that will greatly improve the revving potential of your car! Don't use home made machined stock flywheels, they can stress crack caused by engine revs. Heat and clutch abuse may well have pushed your stock lightened flywheel into an unsafe condition. Flywheels and clutches have been known to fail catastrophically. Use only Flywheels that are designed to be lightweight, ours only weigh 9 lbs! This flywheel for a Triumph Spitfire is made from 6061 T6 billet aluminum which give you the optimum strength and durability for a light alloy flywheel.
Another benefit of the this lightweight flywheel is they are much better at dissipating heat from your away from your clutch, which greatly improve clutch performance with less chance of slipping under heavy use. As for the friction plate it is an incredibly strong 1045 steel. With these replaceable friction plates there is no need to replace the entire flywheel when the flywheel surface is at the end of it’s life from scoring, saving time and money. As for the ring gears they use, they are also made from 1050 steel and are heat treated for durability. The flywheel ring gears are heated then pressed on and secured with grade 8 button screws to insure they will stay affixed under high RPM's and heavy use.
Fits 73 to 80 Spitfire and 75 to 79 MG Midget with 7 1/4" Clutch. ***NOTE: This flywheel can also be used on 1967 to 1972 1300cc Spitfires but must be installed using the 1974 to 1974 1500 Spitfire clutch package with the 10 spline disc (part# HK8927).***
