With use the rubber in your shift boot (Gearshift Boot) will tear and fumes and gases from the engine and transmission will work their way into the interior. And that does not make for a fun driving experience. This is a very easy change and will keep the interior of your MGB clear of any fumes or gas smells. Cross Reference 282-340
