Description
This seal will get smashed flat over time and needs to be replaced to seal up your pressed tin air cleaner assembly. The air cleaner assembly on your Triumph Spitfire 1962 to 1969 and GT6 1966 to 1973 was designed so all the air flow came through the front of the assembly, with this seal you can insure the air cleaner assembly is seale correctly. Cross Reference 138311 ***NOTE *** The manufacturer made the seal shorter because of a build-up of condensation and water in the Air Box on early cars, which could be drawn into the engine. By leaving the gap in the seal at the bottom of the Air Box when fitting, this allows any water to drain away safely and not damage the engine or Air Box.
Later Cars had a hole in the bottom of the Air Box as well, to highlight this problem.
